Piper's Unicorn – New declared weight of 33.4kg, last raced at 32.2kg.
A pre-race sample was taken from Graphic Design.
Piper's Unicorn was quick to begin.
Willy Wolfenden and Unrivalled Dusty collided soon after the start, checking Willy Wolfenden. Wake Up and Graphic Design collided approaching the first turn, checking Wake Up. Crown Zindy and Wake Up collided on the first turn. Graphic Design galloped on the heels of Lara Tara on the first turn, severely checking Lara Tara, Wake Up and Crown Zindy. Piper's Unicorn visibly eased and turn it's head outwards approaching the home turn and raced wide entering the home straight. Unrivalled Dusty raced wide entering the home straight. Willy Wolfenden and Sparra's Mate collided in the home straight.
Crown Zindy which tailed off underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have injuries to the right shin and right quadriceps and sartorius muscles. A 14 day stand down period was imposed.
Wake Up underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have left gracilis injury. A 10 day stand down period was imposed.
Lara Tara underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have an injury to the right quadriceps. A 10 day stand down period was imposed.
Piper's Unicorn underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have sustained split webbing to the right hindleg, a 10 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to trainer Mr. T Boehmke, regarding the greyhounds racing manners approaching the home turn. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69(B)(1), Piper's Unicorn was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Mr Boehmke pleaded guilty to the charge, Piper's Unicorn must perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks) pursuant to GAR 69(B)(1)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.
