In accordance with the GRV Hot Weather Policy, this meeting was deemed 'Heat Affected'. At the commencement of kennelling, the outside temperature was 36.7 degrees and the kennel temperature was 19 degrees. 

During kennelling Stewards conducted a carpark check on all trainers’ vehicles engaged in today’s meeting. Stewards were satisfied that all transport had adhered to the GRV Hot Weather Policy and the GRV Transportation of Greyhounds Policy.

Ashby Swift and Ellias Bale were quick to begin. 

Rockstar Carmody and Polly's Xyra collided soon after the start, checking Polly's Xyra and Jagger's Joss.  Rockstar Brass and Polly's Xyra collided approaching the first turn, checking Polly's Ariana. Rockstar Carmody, Ellias Bale and Rockstar Gareth collided on the first turn, checking Ellias Bale.  Rockstar Carmody checked off Rockstar Gareth on the  home turn.  Rockstar Gareth and Rockstar Carmody raced wide in the home straight. 

Following this event, the Stewards delayed declaring ”All Cear“ to view all available footage. It was observed that the rug of Ellias Bale had shifted, whilst further review showed the rug shift had occurred shortly after box rise. Kennel CCTV footage of Ellias Bale in the kenneling area prior to the event indicated that the race-rug of Ellias Bale was fitted correctly. Stewards also spoke to the handler of Ellias Bale, Mr. S. Coulson and Steward Ms. A. Fewell who confirmed that the rug was placed correctly prior to boxing the greyhound. The Stewards were of the opinion that the rug of Ellias Bale had shifted once the greyhound was boxed and was in no way faulty. Pursuant to GAR 56, the Stewards were of the opinion that Ellias Bale was not materially affected by the occurrence and the All Clear was given on the Judge's numbers 4, 1, 5 and 6.
