Steward's Report
A pre-race sample was taken from Spring Classic.
Spring Classic and Aston Pirate were slow to begin.
Filorga Bale and Spring Classic collided on the first turn, checking Filorga Bale. Aston Gripen turned its head outwards approaching the winning post and collided with Eaglehawk Miss, checking Eaglehawk Miss.
Aston Gripen underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have spike wounds to the left front and right hindlegs, no stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to trainer, Mr W Hartigan regarding the greyhound's racing manners approaching the winning post. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69(B)(1), Aston Gripen was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Mr Hartigan pleaded guilty to the charge, Aston Gripen must perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks) pursuant to GAR 69(B)(1)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.
A post-race sample was taken from Valletta Sky - the winner of the event.
