Steward's Report
Stewards directed a post race swab from the winner of the event, however the greyhound required treatment from the on track veterinarian therefore a swab was not obtained.
Van Wilson was quick to begin.
Cabin Fever and Super Blu collided on the third turn. Spandau Ballet commenced to lose ground from the third turn and subsequently pulled up in the home straight.
Spandau Ballet underwent a post-race veterinary examination - no apparent injury was reported. Stewards spoke to Mr J Willoughby, the handler of Spandau Ballet regarding the greyhound's racing manners on the home turn. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69(A)(1) Spandau Ballet was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment. Mr Willoughby pleaded guilty to the charge, Spandau Ballet is suspended for 3 months at all tracks and must perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(A)(2)(b) before any future nomination will be accepted.
Van Wilson, which fell on the finish on lure, underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a right radius/ulna fracture. A 90 day stand down period was imposed.
