Steward's Report
Due to Government Social Distancing Laws under COVID-19 and acting in accordance with GAR 51 (10), the Stewards have directed that the boxing process in Victoria will revert to and continue under the 4-wave model being 1 & 5 boxed first, followed by 3 & 7, followed by 2 & 6, followed by 4 & 8. Handlers are required to exit the area after boxing and maintain their 1.5m distance from other handlers and staff at all times.
All persons (both Staff & Participants) attending today, undertook successful health screenings that in-turn, permitted entry to the venue for exclusive race-day functions and operations.
Wine Me Up and Mick's Kimmy were slow to begin. Also Arandt went up with the lids at box rise and was slow to begin.
Och Eye Mum and Bounce Back collided soon after the start and again approaching the first turn checking Och Eye Mum which collided with Simmo's My Bro. Och Eye Mum and Also Arandt collided entering the back straight. Wine Me Up marred Not Arandt approaching the home turn and again entering the home straight severely checking Not Arandt.
Wine Me Up underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have injuries to the right monkey muscle, left chest muscle and right triangle muscle. A 7 day stand down period was imposed.
Stewards spoke to Mr C. Treherne, the trainer of Wine Me Up regarding the greyhounds racing manners approaching the home turn and in the home straight. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69(1) Wine Me Up was charged with marring. Mr Treherne pleaded guilty to the charge, Wine Me Up is suspended for 28 days at The Meadows and must perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(2)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.
A post-race sample was taken from Electrifying - the winner of the event.
