Steward's Report
A pre-race sample was taken from Freakish Talent.
It's A Shadow checked off Spark Joy soon after the start. Freakish Talent, Dark Jedi and Spark Joy collided on the first turn severely checking Freakish Talent which lost ground. Ride Along checked off Spark Joy on the first turn. Spark Joy and It's A Shadow collided approaching the second turn.
Freakish Talent underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have spike wounds to the right foreleg webbing and the right hind leg. A 3 day stand down period was imposed.
Stewards spoke to Mr Patrick Newell, the trainer of Freakish Talent regarding the greyhounds racing manners on the first turn. Mr.Newell stated that he believes the greyhound became unbalanced after suffering interference. After viewing all available race footage of the incident and taking Mr.Newell's statement into consideration Stewards issued a warning regarding the greyhounds racing manners on the first turn.
In accordance with LR 22 Mr Matthew Marshall was issued with a warning regarding his non-compliance with the GRV Dress Code.
A post-race sample was taken from Ultra Lightbeam - the winner of the event.
