Steward's Report
Due to Government advice around COVID-19, in accordance with GAR 51(10), the Stewards directed the Starter to box the greyhounds into the starting boxes in the following order, 1 & 5, followed by 3 & 7, followed by 2 & 6, followed by 4 & 8 for all races.
Kennels closed 14 minutes late due to a computer malfunction during the kennelling process.
Curious Faith went up with the lids and was slow to begin. Major Faith, I'm The Greatest and Melanistic were slow to begin. Melanistic and Curious Faith collided on the first turn checking both greyhounds. Darnum Dodger and I'm The Greatest collided on the first turn checking I'm The Greatest which stumbled as a result. Major Faith and Katana Blade collided on the first turn checking Major Faith and severely checking Katana Blade which subsequently pulled up. Melanistic and I'm The Greatest collided on the home turn. Senor Senor was checked off Darnum Dodger in the home straight.
Katana Blade underwent a post race veterinary examination and was found to have an injured right hind toe and a torn nail on a right hind toe. A 14 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to trainer Mr. A. Karabitsakos regarding the greyhound's racing manners on the first turn. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69(B)(1) Katana Blade was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Mr. Karabitsakos pleaded not guilty to the charge, Katana Blade was found guilty and must perform a satisfactory trial (all tracks) pursuant to GAR 69(B)(1)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.
