Discovery Lad checked off Mr. Lonely on the first turn. Lana's Image and Push Start collided on the first turn. Lana's Image galloped on the heels of Push Start approaching the home turn, checking both greyhounds. Chip It Around checked off Discovery Lad entering the home straight. Black Aria and Chip It Around collided entering the home straight. Black Aria turned its head outwards and marred Chip It Around in the home straight, checking Chip It Around.

Black Aria underwent a post-race veterinary examination - no apparent injury was detected.

Stewards spoke to Mr. M. Wright, the trainer of Black Aria, regarding the greyhound's racing manners in the home straight.  Acting under the provisions of GAR 69(1) Black Aria was charged with marring. Mr. Wright pleaded guilty to the charge, Black Aria is suspended for 28 days at Warrnambool and must perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(2)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.

Highland Gypsy went up with the lids at box rise and was very slow to begin (6 Lengths).

Bonafide and Slingshot Style collided on the first turn, checking Slingshot Style. Bonafide and Night Glow collided on the first turn, checking Night Glow. Night Glow brushed the running rail approaching the winning post.

Stewards spoke to Mr. C. Grenfell, trainer of Ragnar Bale, regarding the circumstances pertaining to the late scratching of this greyhound. Mr. Grenfell stated that Ragnar Bale sustained an injury late this morning whilst in the exercise runs. Stewards noted his explanation.

Mepunga Debbie galloped on the heels on Gordette approaching the home turn, checking Mepunga Debbie and severely checking Gordette.
