Speed Star was quick to begin.
Wallbanger, Snags Mckenzie and Barcia Prince collided soon after the start checking Wallbanger and Snags McKenzie. Speed Star, Weblec Fire and Imperial Jack collided soon after the start checking Weblec Fire. Weblec Fire, Weblec Jack and Barcia Prince collided approaching the first turn checking Barcia Prince. Imperial Jack checked off Mepunga Wonder on the first turn. Wallbanger, Weblec Fire and Weblec Jack collided on the first turn checking Weblec Fire and Weblec Jack. Imperial Jack and Wallbanger collided entering the home straight.
Weblec Fire underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have bruising to the right calf. A 10 day stand down period was imposed.
