Steward's Report
An out of competition sample was taken from Kingsbrae Carol on 30 August 2019 pursuant to GAR 79A.
Lektra Zephyr was quick to begin.
Sky Wesley, Roper River Jake and Dyna Smokey collided soon after start checking Roper River Jack. Sky Wesley and Dyna Smokey collided approaching the first turn. Mepunga Pegasus, Dyna Smokey and Sky Wesley collided on the first turn checking Sky Wesley, Roper River Jake, Dyna Smokey, Mepunga Pegasus and Aston Chandon. Dyna Smokey checked off Sky Wesley on the second turn. Aston Chandon galloped on Mepunga Pegasus on the third turn checking Roper River Jake, severely checking Aston Chandon and causing Mepunga Pegasus to fall. Sky Wesley and Aston Chandon collided on the home turn. Roper River Jake turned its head outwards in the home straight.
Dyna Smokey underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a spike wound to the left wrist. A 7 day stand down period was imposed.
Mepunga Pegasus underwent a post-race veterinary examination - no apparent injury was reported.
Roper River Jake underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have injuries to the right calf and left pectoral muscle. A 10 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to Mr J. Thompson the trainer, regarding the greyhound's racing manners in the home straight. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69(B)(1), Roper River Jake was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Mr Thompson pleaded guilty to the charge, Roper River Jake must perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks) pursuant to GAR 69(B)(1)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.
A post-race sample was taken from Lektra Zephyr - the winner of the event.
