Steward's Report
Stewards spoke to Mr Donald McDonald regarding an incident at the start of kenneling in which Iles Inn became loose and made its way down to the track whilst Mr McDonald was placing the collar and lead on the greyhound. After considering all the evidence, Stewards charged Mr McDonald with a breach of GAR 27 (1) in that he did not have proper control of a greyhound on a racecourse. The greyhound underwent a veterinary examination prior to racing and was passed fit to race. Stewards found Mr McDonald guilty as charged and fined him the sum of $100. In considering penalty, Stewards took into consideration Mr McDonald's longevity of over 60 years in the greyhound industry.
Levy's Banjo – New declared weight of 33.1kg, last raced at 31.9kg.
Iles Inn and Spot On Mick were slow to begin and collided soon after the start. Levy's Banjo, Boydtown Bandit and Dundee Joker collided soon after the start and again at the 300m mark checking Levy's Banjo, Boydtown Bandit and Darnum Dozer. Iles Inn and Bernmar Blue collided several times from the 300m mark to the 250m mark checking Spot On Mick. Spot On Mick crossed to the outside at the 250m mark checking Bernmar World. Iles Inn and Boydtown Bandit collided at the 250m mark. Iles Inn and Darnum Dozer collided approaching the 100m mark. Iles Inn, Levy's Banjo and Darnum Dozer collided at the 50m mark checking Iles Inn and Darnum Dozer. Iles Inn, Levy's Banjo, Darnum Dozer and Boydtown Bandit collided approaching the winning post checking Levy's Banjo and Darnum Dozer.
Levy's Banjo underwent a post-race veterinary examination - no apparent injury was reported.
Bernmar Blue underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was re-examined following race 8. Bernmar Blue was found to have shin shoreness to both metacarpals. A 10 day stand down period was imposed.
