Steward's Report
The Stewards opened an inquiry into the late scratching of Shamrock Lava at 9.08am this morning, only a short time after scratchings closed. After hearing submissions, Mr Purcell acknowledged an offence under GAR 23 (1) (a) for failing to examine Shamrock Lava prior to the close of scratchings to ensure he was free of illness or injury. A fine of $200 was issued. Due to the circumstances in the commission of the offence and Mr Pursell's candor in dealing with Stewards, $100 was suspended for 6 months.
Mr Purcell was also queried about the prospects and betting activity for He's an Ace (8) after significant support was identified by the GRV Betting Analyst throughout the day. Mr Pursell thought the greyhound would perform very well first up and had trialled well in preperation. Mr Pursell supported He’s An Ace as did connections and associates due to this confidence.
Sad But True and Krispy Oreo were quick to begin.
Krispy Oreo and He's An Ace collided approaching the first turn. Zenisha Bale, Krispy Oreo and He's An Ace collided approaching the first turn and again on the first turn, checking Krispy Oreo. Zenisha Bale and He's An Ace collided approaching the home turn. Josephine and Krispy Preo raced wide on the home turn and home straight. Zenisha Bale shifted in and marred He's An Ace in the home straight.
Zenisha Bale underwent a post-race veterinary examination - no apparent injury was reported.

Stewards spoke to Mrs R. Kenyon , the trainer of Zenisha Bale regarding the greyhounds racing manners in the home straight. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69(1) Zenisha Bale was charged with marring. Mrs R. Kenyon pleaded guilty to the charge, Zenisha Bale is suspended for 28 days at Geelong and must perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(2)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.
