Handsome Jake underwent a post-race veterinary examination - no apparent injury was reported. Trainer Mr T, Pipczak was questioned regarding the greyhound's race manner soon after the start. Mr Pipczak explained that the greyhound performed in a similiar manner at its most recent start after suffering interference and believes the greyhound prefers to race at the back of the field. Acting on their own observations, viewing the official replays of today's event and the greyhound's most recent races Stewards took no action on this occassion. 

Pride Of Oasis - Late scratching at 14:48pm due to weight variation (GAR 39). A 10 day stand down period was imposed. Trainer Mr A Wilcock was fined $100.

Fake It, Yep Yep and Cool Titanium collided approaching the first turn checking Yep Yep. Fake It and Cool Titanium collided on the first turn checking Cool Titanium. Cool Titanium and Cosmic Brew collided on the home turn checking both greyhounds. Miss Winks and Fake It collided on the home turn. Cosmic Brew and Cool Titanium collided on the home turn checking Cool Titanium. Miss Winks, Fake It and Cosmic Brew collided on the home turn, checking all three greyhounds. Miss Winks and Fake It collided in the home straight.

Miss Winks underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have spike wounds to both hind paws however no stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to Trainer Mr S Chircop regarding the greyhound's performance on the home turn. After taking evidence from Mr Chircop, viewing the official replays and acting on their own observations Stewards deemed the performance unsatisfactory, acting in accordance with GAR 71, Miss Winks must perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks) before any future nomination will be accepted.

Equals Two was slow to begin. 

Titanium Lad, Honestly Bob and Rotarua collided soon after the start checking Honestly Bob and Rotarua. Game Spirit raced wide on the turn and in the home straight.

Satisfactory Trial:

Driving Me Nuts – Performed a Stewards Satisfactory Trial as the greyhound was stood down from racing at Ballarat for fail to chase due to injury. Weighing 25.6kgs and beginning from box one, Driving Me Nuts completed the 390m trial distance in a time of 23.29. Driving Me Nuts placed second in a field of 4 starters beaten by 16.25L. Driving Me Nuts has been cleared to race at all tracks.

Supplementary Report:

Trainer Mr Bruce Jacobs was queried regarding the frequency of starts for the greyhounds Big Cam, Refueled and Pyrenees Classic. Mr Jacobs explained that he checks the greyhounds himself between runs and monitors their behaviour closely for any signs of fatigue or soundness issues. Mr Jacobs further explained that the greyhounds only compete over short distances and are nominated for the most suitable races as dictated by the grading system. Mr Jacobs added that between Ballarat on a Monday and Bendigo on a Wednesday the greyhounds have a total rest day.
