Steward's Report
A pre-race sample was taken from Cherokee Shimmer.
Cherokee Shimmer, Winlock Intent, Aeroplane Hank and Newtown Angel collided soon after the start checking Aeroplane Hank and Newtown Angel. Cherokee Shimmer turned it's head inwards soon after the start. Cherokee Shimmer, Winlock Intent and Sudden Call collided soon after the start checking Sudden Call. Newtown Angel, Winlock Intent, Cherokee Shimmer and Mask collided approaching the first turn checking Mask, Winlock Intent and Cherokee Shimmer. Glascoe Sally and Sudden Call collided approaching the home turn. Winlock Intent and Cherokee Shimmer collided approaching the home turn. Aeroplane Hank raced wide on the home turn. Sudden Call checked off Cherokee Shimmer on the home turn.
Cherokee Shimmer underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a left quadriceps injury and a left pencil/whip injury. A 10 day stand down period was imposed .Stewards spoke to Mr C Stanton, the trainer of Cherokee Shimmer regarding the greyhounds racing manners in the back straight. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69(A)(1) Cherokee Shimmer was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment. Mr Stanton pleaded guilty to the charge, Cherokee Shimmer is suspended for 3 months at all tracks and must perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(A)(2)(b) before any future nomination will be accepted.
