Montey Jack was slow to begin.
Masamune and Miss Cheekiness collided soon after the start. Black Mustang and Pandora's Glory collided soon after the start. Masamune, Pandora's Glory and Sam I'm Mikado collided at the 300m mark. Montey Jack and Masamune collided at the 300m mark. Pandora's Glory and Miss Cheekiness collided at the 300m mark. Pandora's Glory checked off Sam I'm Mikado at the 250m mark. Black Mustang and Hot Dot Two collided at the 150m mark. Black Mustang eased and collided with Hot Dot Two at the 100m mark. Black Mustang eased and collided with Hot Dot Two and High Kings at the 50m mark.
Black Mustang underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a thoraco-lumbar injury, a 7 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to the trainer Mr B. Ender and the handler Mr G. Fisher, regarding the greyhounds racing manners from 100m mark to the 50m mark. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69(B)(1), Black Mustang was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Mr Fisher pleaded not guilty to the charge, Black Mustang was found guilty and must perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks) pursuant to GAR 69(B)(1)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.
A post-race sample was taken from Hot Dot Two - the winner of the event.
