In accordance with the GRV Hot Weather Policy, this event was deemed Heat Affected.  The outside temperature when kennels opened was 22.2 degrees, the inside kennel temperature was 19.6 degrees.

The outside temperature prior to this event was 25.6 degrees, the inside kennel temperature immediately prior to this event when the greyhounds were retrieved was 20.2 degrees.

During kennelling Stewards conducted a carpark check on all trainers vehicles engaged in today's events.  Stewards were satisfied that all transport (100%) had adhered to the Hot Weather and Transport Policy.

Mr.A.Wilcock trainer of Run Fast Bonnie declared a new weight of 27.4kg for the greyhound in accordance with GAR 39(2). Run Fast Bonnie last raced at 28.5kg.

Run Fast Bonnie was quick to begin. Sylo and Angie were slow to begin.

Whiter Shade checked off On Degoey at the 300m mark. Whiter Shade crossed out at the 250m mark. Whiter Shade checked off Angie at the 150m mark. Ashtown and Angie collided att the 150m mark checking both greyhounds. 

A sample was taken from Run Fast Bonnie - the winner of the event.

Stewards spoke to Mr.G.Campbell, the representative of Go Shirvo Go regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races.  Go Shirvo Go last raced on 10 September 2018. Mr.Campbell stated that the greyhound was resuming from an illness.  Mr.Campbell also declared a new weight of 38.2kg for the greyhound in accordance with GAR 39(2). Go Shirvo Go last raced at 36.2kg.

Firework Joey was slow to begin.

Go Shrivo Go crossed out soon after the start checking Firework Joey. Earth Angel checked off Go Shrivo Go soon after the start. La Coconut and Got Some Zip collided soon after the start checking La Coconut and Crispy Kramer. Crispy Kramer crossed out at the 150m mark checking La Coconut and Earth Angel. Crispy Kramer crossed out at the 150m checking La Coconut and Earth Angel. Crispy Kramer and Earth Angel collided at the 100m mark checking both greyhounds. Got Some Zip and Firework Joey collided at the 50m mark checking Firework Joey.

Two Anns and Breakaway Bandit collided soon after the start and again at the 250m mark checking Two Anns. Blazing Sword checked off Super Suzie Que at the 250m mark. Two Anns and Rocky Two collided several times from the 150m mark to approaching the 100m mark checking Two Anns.

Two Anns was vetted following the event. It was reported It was reported that there was no apparent injury found.

The outside temperature prior to this event was 27.8 degrees, the inside kennel temperature immediately prior to this event when the greyhounds were retrieved was 20.0 degrees.

Shirdale Casey was slow to begin.

Superior Hunter and Aston Xanadu collided approaching the 200m mark and the 150m mark and again approaching the 100m mark checking Aston Xanadu.

A pre-race sample was unable to be obtained from Dirty Boston a post race sample was subsequently taken.

Woody's My Name was slow to begin. 

Manitoba and Woody's My Name collided approaching the 300m mark checking Woody's My Name. Manitoba and Woody's My Name collided approaching the 200m mark checking both greyhounds. Navy Storm lost ground from the 200m mark. Ruby's Boy and Woody's My Name c at the 150m mark.

Navy Storm was vetted following the event.  It was reported that there was no apparent injury found.

Midnight Muscat went up with the lids at box rise and was slow to begin. 

Karaka and Eretria collided soon after the start. Early Spring and Magic Maya collided soon after the start. Karaka and Eretria collided approaching the 300m mark checking Eretria. Eretria checked off Karaka at the 300m mark.

A sample was taken from Don's Just Under - the winner of the event.

Superior Briz was a late scratching at 10.38am on the advice of the Club’s Veterinary Surgeon due to illness. A 5 day stand down period was imposed.

Stewards spoke to Mr.C.Treherne, the trainer of Big Dance regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races.  Big Dance last raced on 19 September 2018.  Mr.Treherne stated that the greyhound was resuming from a left triangle injury.

A pre race sample was taken from Black In Town.

Big Dance was slow to begin.

Garbutt checked off Billy Swagger at the 300m mark. She Ignites and Black In Town collided several times from the 150m mark to approaching the 50m mark checking She Ignites.

The outside temperature prior to this event was 30.2 degrees, the inside kennel temperature immediately prior to this event when the greyhounds were retrieved was 20.4 degrees.

Slick Maggie and Brave Innings collided soon after the start checking Slick Maggie.

Soda Ezy and Our Rocket collided soon after the start checking both greyhounds. Blueflash Lenny, Select Minister and Mt. View Gift collided at the 250m mark checking Blueflash Lenny. Lyria checked off Taking Off at the 100m mark.

Aston Klara was slow to begin.

Aston Klara and Bela Natali collided at the 100m mark.

Almendra was a late scratching at 11.08am on the advice of the Club’s Veterinary Surgeon due to a spike wound. A 5 day stand down period was imposed.

Stewards spoke to Mr.W.Bocquet, the trainer of Shellbrook regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races.  Shellbrook last raced on 5 October 2018.  Mr.Bocquet stated that the greyhound was resuming from a seasonal spell and change of kennel.

Stewards spoke to Mr.J.Formosa, the representative of Doran's Call regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races.  Doran's Call last raced on 29 September 2018.  Mr.Formosa stated that the greyhound was resuming from a left wrist injury.

A pre race sample was taken from Doran's Call.

Crackerjack Mick was slow to begin.

Doran's Call and Shellbrook collided at the 250m checking Crackerjack Mick and Doran's Call. Yenderra Blue, Doran's Call and Shellbrook collided approaching the 200m mark checking Doran's Call and Shellbrook. Shellbrook stumbled approaching the 150m mark and lost ground. Shellbrook, Doran's Call and Aston Boss collided approaching the 150m mark checking Shellbrook and Aston Boss causing Aston Boss to lose ground.

Aston Boss was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained abrasion to the right hindleg, a 5 day stand down period was imposed.

Shellbrook was vetted following the event. It was reported that there was no apparent injury found. 

Stewards spoke to Mr.C.Treherne, the trainer of One Step Ahead regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races.  Big Dance last raced on 22 September 2018.  Mr.Treherne stated that the greyhound was resuming from a right hock injury.  Mr.Treherne also declared a new weight of 28.5kg for the greyhound in accordance with GAR 39(2). One Step Ahead last raced at 26.9kg.

The outside temperature prior to this event was 31.7 degrees, the inside kennel temperature immediately prior to this event when the greyhounds were retrieved was 20.3 degrees.

A pre race sample was taken from One Step Ahead.

Aloutte Jack was slow to begin.

Aloutte Jack and Dewana Interest collided at the 100m mark.

MEETING COMMENTS:

Stewards spoke with Mr.G.Laidlay following an incident during kennelling with the club veterinarian Dr N.Evans. Mr Laidlay stated that he overreacted when the greyhound become unbalanced while going over the vet table and was apologetic for his actions. Stewards noted that Mr.Laidlay had had no such instances of this conduct over a long period of time and as such reminded him of his responsibilities when dealing with a member of the controlling body.
