Steward's Report

A car park and pre race sample was unable to be obtained from Springvale Misty, a post race sample was subsequently taken.

Springvale Misty was quick to begin.

Wicked Reason, New Sense, Ebby's Plan and Smart Sailor collided soon after the start checking Wicked Reason and Ebby's Plan. Banyatis, Smart Sailor and Tennyson Girl collided on the first turn checking Smart Sailor and Tennyson Girl. Tennyson Girl checked off Smart Sailor approaching the home turn. Wicked Reason checked off Smart Sailor on the home turn. Springvale Misty and New Sense collided entering the home straight checking Springvale Misty. Banyuatis and Tennyson Girl raced wide in the home straight. Springvale Misty weakened in the hone straight.

Springvale Misty underwent a post race veterinarian examination and was found to have an injury to the lower back and right thigh, a ten day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to Trainer Mr A. Varichone regarding the greyhound's performance in this event. Mr Varichone stated that he has had the greyhound for just over a week, had satisfactory blood sample results, the greyhound checked over and trialled at Geelong where it was quick early and weakened late, similar to today's performance. Mr Varichone could not explain the greyhound's short odds and did not place a bet in the race.  Mr Varichone added that he intends to trial before nominating again as the greyhound would benefit from more track experience.
