Steward's Report
A pre race sample was taken from Kissable.
Prior to race 6 the outside temperature was 27.0 degrees and the kennel temperature was 19.1 degrees.
This race was delayed approximately two minutes due to track staff removing plastic and to remove a rabbit from the track.
Cruising Betty and Urana Smacko collided soon after the start checking both greyhounds. Monkey Mite and Katlin collided on the first turn checking Monkey Mite, Renaldo, Cruising Betty and Urana Smacko. Kissable checked off Dyna Zapto approaching the home turn. Monkey Mite and Renaldo collided approaching the home turn. Kissable and Cruising Betty collided on the home turn. Kissable checked off Cruising Betty in the home straight.
Stewards opened and finalised an inquiry into the circumstances of the transport used to convey Cruising Betty to Geelong today. Evidence was taken from Trainer Mr I Green after Stewards were supplied information from the GRV Welfare Inspectors who were attending in the car-park today at Geelong. After hearing submissions, the Stewards issued a charge to Mr Green under GAR 86 (ag) for failing to comply with a policy adopted by the Controlling Body in that Mr Green transported Cruising Betty in a vehicle that was not air-conditioned, contrary to the GRV Transport Policy for Hot Weather effected meetings. Mr Green pleaded guilty to the charge and was fined $250. The Stewards would like to remind all participants that the requirements of the Hot Weather and Transport Policies are non-negotiable and sanctions will apply for non-compliance issues. Save for Cruising Betty being passed fit to race, the sanction/fine would be manifestly higher.
