Heat Affected meeting. At the commencement of kenneling, the outside temperature was 33.7 degrees and the kennel temperature was 18 degrees. 

Prior to race 1 the outside temperature was 36.7 degrees and the kennel temperature was 19.8 degrees.

Stewards delayed the 'All Clear' to this event in order to view the replays after the retractable safety strap was accidently dropped by the Starter prior to the boxes opening. After viewing the offical replays and acting on their own observations Stewards were comfortably satisified that no greyhound had their chances materially prejudiced by the incident and as such the 'All Clear' was declared.

Winslow Lodge was slow to begin.

Limburg Sprite checked off Expresso Love soon after the start. Maina Honey and Blackpool Flyer collided on the first turn checking Blackpool Flyer.

Stewards opened and finalised an inquiry into the circumstances of the transport used to convey Blackpool Flyer to Geelong today. Evidence was taken from Trainer Mr D. Kee after Stewards were supplied information from the GRV Welfare Inspectors who were attending in the car-park today at Geelong. After hearing submissions, the Stewards issued a charge to Mr Kee under GAR 86 (ag) for failing to comply with a policy adopted by the Controlling Body in that Mr Kee transported Blackpool Flyer in a vehicle that was not air-conditioned, contrary to the GRV Transport Policy for Hot Weather effected meetings. Mr Kee pleaded guilty to the charge and was fined $250. The Stewards would like to remind all participants that the requirements of the Hot Weather and Transport Policies are non-negotiable and sanctions will apply for non-compliance issues. Save for Blackpool Flyer being passed fit to race, the sanction/fine would be manifestly higher.
