Steward's Report

A pre-race sample was taken from Little Black Joe.

Semantic Shift was slow to begin.  Little Black Joe and Takaho Tiger collided approaching the first turn checking Takaho Tiger.  Little Kensi and Piccolo Panther collided approaching the first turn.  Little Kensi eased on the first turn.  Shining Opal and Barroom Counsel collided on the first turn checking Barroom Counsel.  Semantic Shift, Shining Opal and Little Black Joe collided on the first turn checking Little Black Joe.  Barroom Counsel and Little Black Joe collided approaching the home turn.  Sly Shiraz was checked off Little Black Joe approaching the home turn.  Barroom Counsel and Little Kensi collided on the home turn.  Sly Shiraz raced wide on the home turn.

Stewards spoke to Mrs. S. Hastie the trainer of the greyhound Little Kensi regarding the greyhound's racing manners on the first turn. Little Kensi was vetted following the event and after being re-vetted following event 8, it was reported that the greyhound sustained an injured pelvis, a 10 day stand down period was imposed.   Acting under GAR 69(B)(1) Stewards charged Little Kensi with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment by reason of injury.  Mrs. Hastie pleaded not guilty to the charge, Little Kensi was found guilty and Stewards directed that the greyhound perform a satisfactory trial all tracks pursuant to GAR 69(B)(1)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.
