Steward's Report
A pre race sample was taken from Pancake.
Stewards spoke to Mr Luckie Karabitsakos, the trainer of Master Rico, regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races. Master Rico last raced on 19 April 2018. Mr Karabitsakos stated that the greyhound was returning to racing following a left monkey muscle injury.
Master Rico was quick to begin. Resplando, Raweenie and Meehan Roy collided soon after the start. Raweenie checked off Resplando approaching the first turn. Master Rico raced wide on the first turn, checking Master Rico and Newfire Drewie. Resplando checked off Pancake on the second turn. Resplando lost ground from the back straight.
Master Rico was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained right foreleg deltoid and latissimus dorsi/tapezius muscles injuries, a 10 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards issued a warning to Mr Luckie Katabitsakos, the trainer of Master Rico, regarding the greyhound’s racing manners approaching the second turn.
Resplando, which was disappointing, was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained a spike wound to the right thigh. No stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke with Mr Leigh Howard, trainer of Resplando, who could offer no explanation for the disappointing performance. Mr Howard undertook to advise Stewards if the greyhound was found to be injured in the coming days.
Meeting Comments:
Satisfactory Trial Results - Radiant Angel trialled over the 515m from box one, weight 27.1 kgs, the greyhound was placed first in a field of four. The time of the trial was 29:77, the greyhound won by a margin of three lengths. Radiant Angel was Cleared.
