Supplementary Report Geelong Race 7 25/9/2018

On the 26th of September 2018, Greyhound Racing Victoria Stewards and Veterinary Staff conducted a kennel inspection at the property of trainer Ms J Fothergill. The inspection was in relation to the scratching of  greyhounds trained by Fothergill engaged in race 7 at Geelong yesterday. The greyhounds Valdar Bale, Blackhaven and Jumbo Bale were all examined and found have injuries or received recent veterinary treatment consistent with the information Ms Fothergill supplied to Stewards regarding the scratching of all 3 greyhounds. 

Upon examination 

Blackhaven was found to be suffering from a right back muscle soreness.

Valdar Bale and Jumbo Bale had both received  veterianry treatment since nominations  closed and were found to be unfit to race. 

Cullquin Bronn was slow to begin. Ace's Fab and Galway Shawl collided on the first turn checking Galway Shawl. Cullquinn Bronn and Cullquin Brienne collided in the back straight.

Stewards spoke to Mr. G. Wild, the handler of You Blue, regarding his failure to arrive at the kennels at the allocated time. Stewards also spoke to Ms. M. Scott regarding this matter. After taking evidence from both parties, Stewards noted their explanations and took no further action.

Badelaide Road was slow to begin. Bring The Spring went up with the lids at box rise and was slow to begin. Badelaide Road and Golden Moon collided approaching the home turn checking Bring The Spring. Thomeli Rocker and Golden Moon collided approaching the home turn checking both greyhounds. Bring The Spring raced wide entering the home straight and in the home straight. Badelaide Road raced wide entering the home straight.

Strike Power and Spring Nugget collided soon after the start. Ultimate Sugar and Can't Afford Dee collided soon after the start checking Can't Afford Dee. Strike Power and Tiger Minstrel collided approaching the first turn and on the first turn checking Tiger Minstrel. Honey Road and Ulitimate Sugar collided on the first turn. Spring Nugget lost ground approaching the home turn. Can't Afford Dee and Ultimate Sugar collided entering the home straight. Spin An' Win raced wide entering the home straight and in the home straight.

Stewards spoke to Mr. R. Barron, the trainer of the greyhound Spring Nugget regarding the greyhounds racing manners on the first turn. Spring Nugget was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained injuries to shin soreness in the left foreleg, a 3 day stand down period was imposed.  Acting under GAR 69(B)(1), the stewards charged Spring Nugget with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Mr. Barron pleaded guilty to the charge, Spring Nugget was found guilty and stewards directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks) pursuant to GAR 69(B)(1)(a), before any future nomination will be accepted.

Stewards also spoke to Mr. Barron regarding the strong market support for Spring Nugget in tonight's event. Mr. Barron stated that he was confident that Spring Nugget would be competitive, particularly if the greyhound led early. Mr. Barron added that he had a marginal outlay on the greyhound and was unaware that there had been support for Spring Nugget. Stewards noted his explanation.

Chill Out Al was slow to begin. Hua Hin and Dancin' In collided on the first turn. Dancin' In, Wendy Maria and Kraken Greta collided approaching the second turn. Miss Heart and Gunna Be Hoping collided on the second turn. Kraken Greta and Dancin' In collided approaching the home turn. Chill Out Al raced wide entering the home straight and in the home straight. Miss Heart and Wendy Maria collided in the home straight.

Stewards spoke to Mr. R. Coleman regarding the GRV dress code. Stewards advised Mr. Coleman to upgrade his attire prior to attending future race meetings. 

Dream Boulevard, Rocky Road and Reverend John collided soon after the start. Rocky Road and Reverend John collided approaching the first turn. Jack's On Deck checked off Dream Boulevard on the first turn severely checking Rocky Road and Reverend John. Reverend John fell as a result.

Reverend John was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained a mild abrasion to the right foreleg. No stand down period was imposed.

Our Flying Laura, Dyna Zaynabi, Calen and Fred's My Name collided on the first turn severely checking Fred's My Name, Dyna Zaynabi, Calen and Agent Barry. Gaza's Rooster and Scarecrow Tiger collided approaching the home turn.

Mr. S. McKenzie, trainer of Pamela Rocks declared a new weight of 31.5kg for the greyhound in accordance with GAR 39(2). Pamela Rocks last raced at 32.9kg.

Star Project was quick to begin.

Lorella, Better Way, Hardaway Kate and Rocking Doll collided on the first turn checking Lorella and severely checking Better Way and Hardaway Kate. Lily The Weapon and Pamela Rocks collided on the second turn checking Pamela Rocks. Star Project and Our Magic Turbo collided on the second turn. Our Magic Turbo and Pamela Rocks collided entering the home straight. Rocking Doll and Hardaway Kate collided in the home straight.

Launch Time was quick to begin.

Kubla De Kahn was slow to begin.

Winter Soldier and April Jay collided soon after the start. Still Single, Winter Soldier and April Jay collided approaching the first turn. Winter soldier checked off Still Single on the first turn.

The Club Veterinary Surgeon examined Agent Que and no illness was detected. The greyhound was a late scratching at 6.00PM due to weight variation (GAR 39). A 10 day stand down period was imposed. Trainer Mr. R. Fisher was fined the sum of $100.
