Supplementary Report Geelong Race 7 25/9/2018

On the 26th of September 2018, Greyhound Racing Victoria Stewards and Veterinary Staff conducted a kennel inspection at the property of trainer Ms J Fothergill. The inspection was in relation to the scratching of greyhounds trained by Fothergill engaged in race 7 at Geelong yesterday. The greyhounds Valdar Bale, Blackhaven and Jumbo Bale were all examined and found have injuries or received recent veterinary treatment consistent with the information Ms Fothergill supplied to Stewards regarding the scratching of all 3 greyhounds. 

Upon examination 

Blackhaven was found to be suffering from a right back muscle soreness.

Valdar Bale and Jumbo Bale had both received  veterianry treatment since nominations  closed and were found to be unfit to race. 

The start time of this event was resheduled to 2:49pm.

An Out of Competition Sample was taken from Keybey engaged in this event on 24 September 2018 pursuant to GAR 79A.

Stewards spoke to Mr. J. Carr, the trainer of Parumba Ned regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races. Parumba Ned last raced on 13 April 2018 and is returning after a change of kennel. Mr J. Carr also declared a new weight of 34.3 for the greyhound in accordance with GAR 39(2). Parumba Ned last raced at 32.7.

Parumba Ned was quick to begin.

Bluwy galloped on Vineyard approaching the first turn, checking Vineyard. Virage De Kahn and Vineyard collided on the first turn. Keybey raced wide in the home straight.  

Gypsy Kiowa and Eye Dunno were quick to begin. Superior Sam was slow to begin. 

Manarola, Wolfie's Squeeze and Gypsy Kiowa collided approaching the first turn. Wolfie's Squeeze, Gypsy Kiowa, Superior Sam, New Fire Girl and Hay Janet collided on the first turn, checking Wolfie's Squeeze and New Fire Girl; Superior Sam faltered and fell, severely checking Hay Janet and Gypsy Kiowa; Gypsy Kiowa collided with Superior Sam as a result, contacted the outside fence and subsequently tailed off. Wolfie's Squeeze and New Fire Girl collided approaching the home turn, checking both greyhounds. Manarola eased in the home straight. 

Wolfie's Squeeze was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained a spike wound to the right hind foot. No stand down period was imposed. 

Stewards spoke to Mr. M. Tocknell, the Trainer of Wolfie’s Squeeze regarding  the greyhound's racing manners approaching the home turn. Stewards were of the opinion that the racing manners of Wolfie’s Squeeze at this stage of the event was a direct reaction to the severe interference suffered by Superior Sam on it's immediate outside. As a result Stewards were not satisfied a failing to chase charge was warranted and issued the greyhound with a warning.

Superior Sam was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained a right shoulder injury. A 21 day stand down period was imposed. 

Gypsy Kiowa was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injury to the right triangle muscle. A 5 Day stand down period was imposed. 

Manarola was vetted following the event and re-vetted following race 4. It was reported that no apparent injury was found. 

Stewards spoke to Mr Daryl Holmes the trainer of the greyhound Manarola regarding the greyhounds racing manners in the home straight. Acting under GAR 69(A)(1) stewards charged Manarola with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment. Mr Holmes pleaded not guilty to the charge, Manarola was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Cranbourne and it was directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(A)(2)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.

Dyna Bella and Another Nalin were slow to begin. 

Anita's Girl, Enable Me and North Wind collided approaching the first turn, checking Enable Me. Anita's Girl, North Wind and Another Nalin collided on the first turn. Enable Me contacted the rail approaching the home turn. Anita's Girl, North Wind and Another Nalin collided on the home turn. Anita's Girl and North Wind collided several times in the home straight. Anita's Girl, North Wind and Dyna Bella collided approaching the winning post. 

Anita's Girl was vetted following the event at the request of the trainer. It was reported that the greyhound sustained a spike wound to the right calf. A 5 day stand down period was imposed. 

An Out of Competition Sample was taken from Destini Radar engaged in this event on 24 September 2018 pursuant to GAR 79A.

An Out of Competition Sample was taken from Dyna Zapto engaged in this event on 25 September 2018 pursuant to GAR 79A.

The start of this event was delayed by approximately 2.5 minutes due to a communication error between the lure driver and parade steward in arranging the stir up. 

Buckle Up Leo, Calabrese Bullet and Ebonique were slow to begin. 

Buckle Up Leo and Tuiaki Dora collided on the first turn. Dyna Zapto checked off Tuiaki Dora on the first turn, checking Calabrese Bullet. Gappy Hilmore and Destini Radar collided on the first turn, checking Destini Radar. Buckle Up Leo and Destini Radar collided approaching the home turn, checking Checker Plate and Ebonique and severely checking Destini Radar and Buckle Up Leo; Buckle Up Leo stumbled and lost considerable ground, checking Dyna Zapto and Calabrese Bullet as a result. 

Buckle Up Leo was vetted following the event. It was reported that there was no apparent injury found. 

Destini Radar was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained a left fore felxor tendon injury and a spike wound to the right medial tibia. A 7 day stand down period was imposed. 

The start time of this event was resheduled to 3:59pm.

Newfire Chelle was quick to begin. Barcia Houdini and Dewana Hand were slow to begin.

Whiney Whine, Barcia Houdini and Downing Street collided on the first turn, checking Downing Street. Dewana Hand checked off Newfire Chelle on the first turn. Superior Faith and Newfire Chelle collided on the second turn. 

A sample was taken from Creative Playboy, the winner of the event. 

Rock Johnson and Ohana Lad were quick to begin. My Reflection was slow to begin. 

Rock Johnson and Ohana Lad collided on the first turn. Chase's Entity golloped on Dundee Blitz on the first turn, checking Dundee Blitz. Applied and Ohana Lad collided approaching the second turn, checking Applied, Dundee Ace, Fabkobi and My Reflection and severely checking Ohana Lad. Chase's Entity and Dundee Blitz collided on the second turn. My Reflection checked off Dundee Ace on the third turn. My Reflection and Dundee Blitz collided approaching the home turn. Applied and Dundee Ace collided entering the home straight.

Samples were taken from the placegetters, Dundee Ace (1st) and Rock Johnson (2nd).

An Out of Competition Sample was taken from Canya Wilber engaged in this event on 24 September 2018 pursuant to GAR 79A.

Dyna Winter was quick to begin. Perrie Lulu and Buckle Up Spud were slow to begin. 

Marlow's Angel and Property Power collided approaching the first turn. Perrie Lulu checked off Canya Wilber on the first turn, checking Marlow's Angel, Property Power and Buckle Up Spud. Canya Wilber and Charlott's Angel collided on the first turn. Property Power checked off Buckle Up Spud approaching the home turn. Buckle Up Spud checked off Canya Wilber on the home turn. Canya Wilber lost ground from the home turn to the winning post. 

Canya Wilber was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained a right carpal sprain. A 14 day stand down period was imposed. 

A sample was taken from Dyna Winter, the winner of the event. 

Pink Floyd and Rodeo were slow to begin.

Spokane Flick and Rodeo collided on the first turn. Our Gal Livy checked off Dyna Alia on the second turn causing Our Gal Livy to lose ground as a result. Vanishka checked off Dyna Alia on the home turn, causing Vanishka and Spokane Flick to collide.

Buckle Up York was quick to begin. Woody's My Name was slow to begin. 

Blackpool Remi and Buckle Up York collided soon after the start. Woody's My Name, Harper's Hand and Winlock Intent collided approaching the first turn. Blackpool Remi checked off Buckle Up York on the first turn, checking Buckle Up York and Okay Pumpkin. Buckle Up York and Harper's Hand collided approaching the home turn. Okay Pumpkin galloped on Woody's My Name approching the home turn and lost ground. 

Ms K. Smyth, trainer of Alamo Mike declared a new weight of 37.3 for the greyhound in accordance with GAR 39(2). Alamo Mike last raced at 35.9.

Krypto Jam was slow to begin.

Krypto Jam checked off Blunderbuss approaching the home turn. Blunderbuss and Princess Parker collided approaching the home turn. Jayanti and White Minion collided on the home turn. Blunderbuss and Princess Parker collided approaching the winning post. 

Alamo Mike was vetted following an incident in the catching pen which resulted in the greyhound falling. It was reported that the greyhound sustained fractures to the right tibia and was humanley euthanased.

Due to a technical issue, the incorrect race number (10) was displayed on the semaphore board.

Go Go Guru and Roland View were slow to begin.

Roland View stumbled soon after the start. Lektra Blicavs and Beluga Diamond collided on the first turn. Go Go Guru and Emperor Cruz collided approaching the home turn, checking Emperor Cruz. 

Emperor Cruz was vetted following the event. It was reported that there was no apparent injury found. 

Mrs. H. Collins, representative of Dyna Owen declared a new weight of 30.9 for the greyhound in accordance with GAR 39(2). Dyna Owen last raced at 29.7.

Silvagni Cubed, Penny Worth and Cheeky Cindy were slow to begin. 

Winlock Rose, Big Bubbles and Dyna Owen soon after the start. Luna Evening, Silvagni Cuded, Penny Worth and Cheeky Cindy collided soon after the start. Winlock Rose raced wide on the first turn. Silvagni Cubed and Penny Worth collided on the first turn.

SATISFACTORY TRIAL:

Stewards spoke to Mr Kevin Podmore, the representaive of She Is Creative regarding the length of time since the greyhound last raced.  She Is Creative last raced on 3 November, 2017 and is returning to racing following a right hock injury. Pursuant to GAR 77A, She is Creative trialled over the 311m from box 3, weight 26.5kgs the greyhound was placed 1st in a field of 4. The time of the trial was 18.04, the greyhound won by a margin of 1.5L. She Is Creative was cleared. 

Satisfactory Trial Results (Blinkers) - Flash Fernando trialled over the 311m from box 1, weight 30.6kgs, the greyhound was placed 3rd in a field of 4. The time of the trial was 18.04, the greyhound beaten by a margin of 3L. Flash Fernando was cleared to race in blinkers.
