Steward's Report
A pre-race sample was taken from Lonesome Spring.
Lonesome Spring and Tally Ho Jack were slow to begin. Lonesome Spring and Sports Gairn collided approaching the first turn, checking Sports Gairn. Sports Gairn checked off Lonesome Spring approaching the home turn. Tyson's A Rebel and Game Spirit collided approaching the home turn, checking Game Spirit. Lonesome Spring and Game Spirit raced wide in the home straight. Broken Axle failed to pursue the lure with due commitment in the home straight.
Broken Axle was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained a right foreleg monkey muscle injury, a seven day stand down period was imposed.
Stewards spoke to Mr Paul Radstock, the handler of the greyhound Broken Axle, regarding the greyhounds racing manners in the home straight. Acting under GAR 69(A)(1) Stewards charged Broken Axle with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment. Mr Radstock reserved his plea to the charge, Broken Axle was found guilty and suspended for three months (all tracks) and it was directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(A)(2)(b), before any future nomination will be accepted.
