Ellie Wires was slow to begin.
Evie Willow and Almani Tee Rex collided soon after the start. Little Fernando checked off Emma Mia soon after the start. Almani Tee Rex and Ellie Wires collided soon after the start. Almani Tee Rex collided approaching the first turn, severely checking Almani Tee Rex. Gunna Be Hoping checked off Bombora Rocket on the second turn. Ellie Wires checked off Gunna Be Hoping entering the home straight. Gunna Be Hoping tired over the concluding stages of the event.
Gunna Be Hoping was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained no apparent injury.
Stewards questioned Mr John Mangion, trainer of the greyhound Gunna Be Hoping, regarding the greyhound's step up in distance in this event and its performance over the concluding stages of the race. Mr Mangion stated that this was the greyhound's first run over the 525m distance and given the performance today, advised that Gunna Be Hoping would be stepped down in distance at its next start.
