Steward's Report
Stewards spoke to Mr N. Partridge, the trainer of Belena Surf regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races. Belena Surf last raced on 30 Jan 18. Mr Partridge stated that the greyhound was returning to racing following a left toe injury. Mr Partridge declared a new weight of 30.9 kgs for the greyhound in accordance with GAR 39(2). Belena Surf last raced at 32.1 kgs.
Mr W. Portelli was fined the sum of $50 for failing to ensure the registration papers/card were produced for the greyhound Suitress pursuant to GAR 33.
A pre race sample was taken from Cruisy's Empress.
Parish Power and Suitress were quick to begin. Belena Bold, Belena Surf and Took My Money were slow to begin. Took My Money and Belena Surf collided soon after the start. Belena Surf and Inga Ted collided approaching the first turn, checking Belena Surf. Suitress and Cruisy's Empress collided on the first turn, checking Cruisy's Empress. Blitzen Bell and Belena Bold collided approaching the home turn. Parish Power, Blitzen Bell, Belena Bold and Suitress raced wide on the home turn.
Cruisy's Express was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained a spike wound to the left hind leg, a 5 day stand down period was imposed.
