Steward's Report
Kennelling closed slightly later than scheduled to accomodate for several trainers that encountered heavy traffic loads from the west.
Mister Harlewood was qucik to begin. Fernando Porche and For The Horde were slow to begin. Hope to Wyn was very slow to begin (5 lengths)
Brakae, Why Not Pockets and Gladiator collided soon after the start. Why Not Pockets checked off Mister Harlewood on the first turn. Brakae and Gladiator collided on the first turn. Miss Bellawood and Fernando Porche collided on the first turn. Gladiator and Miss Bellawood collided on the first turn. For The Horde eased, shifted out and lost considerable ground approaching the second turn. Brakae turned its head, eased, shifted out and collided with Mister Harlewood on the second turn, checking Mister Harlewood. Miss Bellawood and Fernando Porche collided on the second turn and again in the back straight. Fernando Porche and Hope To Wyn collided in the back straight.
Brakae underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have sustained injuries to the left deltoid muscle and right hip. A 7 day stand down period was imposed.
Stewards spoke to Mr David Willcocks, the trainer of Brakae regarding the greyhounds racing manners on the second turn. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69(A)(1) Brakae was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment. Mr Willcocks pleaded not guilty to the charge, Brakae was found guilty and suspended for 3 months at all tracks and must perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(A)(2)(b) before any future nomination will be accepted.
For The Horde underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have sustained injuries to the right sartorius muscle and right deltiod muscle. A 10 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to trainer, Mr Matthew Lanigan regarding the greyhounds racing manners approaching the second turn. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69(B)(1), For The Horde was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Mr Lanigan pleaded not guilty to the charge, For The Horde was found guilty and must perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks) pursuant to GAR 69(B)(1)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.
