Steward's Report
Layback Cruiser - Late scratching at 6.36pm due to weight variation (GAR 39). A 10 day stand down period was imposed. Trainer Mr J Grima was fined $100.
As the green light was activated for this event it was noted that there was a greyhound on the loose in the car park. Subsequently all runners were removed from the starting boxes and underwent a veterinary examination. Once the loose greyhound was captured the runners were reloaded and as a result the race started approximately four minutes late. An inquiry with the participants concerned will be convened at a time to be fixed.
A pre-race sample was taken from Please Stand Up.
Sarah Smirnoff and Amanda Lee were slow to begin.
Abimbola and Daytona Fernando collided approaching the first turn. Winlock Intent, Amanda Lee and Sarah Smirnoff collided approaching the first turn checking Sarah Smirnoff. Winlock Intent raced wide and became unbalanced approaching the home turn. Winlock Intent and Sarah Smirnoff collided approaching the home turn. Sarah Smirnoff raced wide in the home straight.
Winlock Intent underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was re-examined following race nine. Winlock Intent was found to have a left back muscle injury. A 10 day stand down period was imposed.
A post-race sample was taken from Speckie Mckean - the winner of the event.
