In accordance with the GRV Hot Weather Policy, this event was deemed Heat Affected. The outside temperature when kennels opened was 26.6 degrees, the inside kennel temperature was 20.0 degrees.

The outside temperature prior to this event was 29.5 degrees, the inside kennel temperature immediately prior to this event when the greyhounds were retrieved was 20.3 degrees.

Alfie Mikado and Steel Magnolia were slow to begin.

Braemar Keelie and Hungry Grub collided at the 250m mark. Alfie Mikado and Hungry Grub collided at the 200m mark and again at the 100m mark. Steel Magnolia and Gazza's Pick collided approaching the winning post. 

Stewards spoke to Mr G. Laidley and reminded him of his responsibilities to ensure he adheres to the Starter‘s instructions when boxing greyhounds.

Gypsy Kiowa was slow to begin.

Raven Rich and Gin Lee's Joe collided soon after the start checking Raven Rich. Lost Horizon and Bruree Boy collided soon after the start checking Raven Rich and Gin Lee's Joe. Gotta Jump Start, Cawbourne Mav and Lost Horizon collided at the 150m mark checking Cawbourne Mav and Lost Horizon. Raven Rich checked off Gypsy Kiowa at the 100m mark. Gin Lee's Joe and Cawbourne Mav collided at the 100m mark. Gypsy Kiowa faltered approaching the winning post.

Gypsy Kiowa was vetted and after being re-vetted following Race 7, it was reported that the greyhound sustained injuries to the right quadricep and right monkey muscle, a 28 day stand down period was imposed.

Stewards questioned Mr R Gladman (representing Trainer - Ms L Farquhar) and also Ms Lisa Farquhar via telephone link-up regarding the circumstances leading to the withdrawal of Ebby’s Plan in this event.  Acting under the provisions of GAR 23(3), Stewards have directed Ms Farquhar present Ebby’s Plan for a veterinary examination following kennelling at the Ballarat meeting on Monday, 4 March, 2019.

Splash Of Blue was slow to begin.

Atlas Anonymous and Fruit Frames collided soon after the start and again at the 250m mark. Mepunga Giant and Atlas Anonymous collided at the 250m mark. Atlas Anonymous and Fruit Frames collided at the 150m mark. Atlas Anonymous faltered approaching the winning post.

Atlas Anonymous was vetted and after being re-vetted following Race 6, it was reported that the greyhound sustained injuries to the right thigh and right hip, a 21 day stand down period was imposed.

Stewards conducted a licence check for catchers prior to the running of this event and found all catchers to be compliant with their current registrarion.

The outside temperature prior to this event was 30.5 degrees, the inside kennel temperature immediately prior to this event when the greyhounds were retrieved was 20.6 degrees.  

A pre-race sample was taken from Gotta Bandit upon arrival at the course, prior to kennelling.

Serious Bolt and Croucher collided at the 250m mark. Serious Bolt crossed to the outside approaching the 100m mark.

Superior Chase was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained injuries to the right deltoid and the right and left pencil muscles, a 21 day stand down period was imposed.

Shifter Magic checked off Bloke's Advice soon after the start.

A pre-race sample was taken from Cosmic Chieftain upon arrival at the course, prior to kennelling.

Piriformis and Rhomboid were slow to begin.

Superior Sam and Destini Radar collided several times from the 300m mark to the 100m mark. Rhomboid and Why Not Senor collided at the 250m mark.

Pilot Pete was slow to begin.

Merl's Michu crossed to the outside soon after the start colliding with Lucky Paws and causing Lucky Paws and Mumma's Bear to collide. Merl's Michu galloped on Mumma's Bear approaching the 200m mark. Merl's Michu checked off Mumma's Bear at the 200m mark causing Lucky Paws and Cosmic Fox to collide checking Lucky Paws. Merl's Michu, Lucky Paws and Cosmic Fox collided at the 200m mark checking Lucky Paws.

The outside temperature prior to this event was 32.5 degrees, the inside kennel temperature immediately prior to this event when the greyhounds were retrieved was 20.6 degrees.  

A pre-race sample was taken from She's My Blast upon arrival at the course, prior to kennelling.

Mr D. Condon, trainer of Superior Indi declared a new weight of 31.6kg for the greyhound in accordance with GAR 39(2). Superior Indi last raced at 30.1kg.

Two Seasons and Love Laughing were slow to begin.

Broadway Polka and Inga Tom collided soon after the start. Love Laughing and Undetectable collided soon after the start. Two Seasons and Undetectable collided several times from approaching the 300m mark to the 200m mark. Superior Indi crossed to the inside at the 250m mark colliding with She's My Blast and severly checking both greyhounds in turn checking Undetectable causing Superior Indi to falter and tail the field. Broadway Polka and Inga Tom collided several times from approaching the 250m mark to the 250m mark checking both greyhounds. Two Seasons checked off Broadway Polka at the 50m mark.

Superior Indi was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injury to the left monkey muscle, a 28 day stand down period was imposed.

Calcaneal was slow to begin.

Snip Snap and Golden Romance collided soon after the start checking Golden Romance. Snip Snap crossed to the outside approaching the 250m mark checking Golden Romance. Thumbs checked off Lady Mikado at the 200m mark. Thumbs and Lady Mikado collided at the 150m mark checking Calcaneal. Snip Snap and Atlas Shiralee collided approaching the winning post.

Stewards contacted the TAB control room after establishing a discrepancy in the start time for this event.  Stewards established the time was rescheduled to 12.29pm and not 12.34pm as advertised in Fastrack.

Stella View was slow to begin.

Lektra Elsa, Cool De Beers and Superior Uno collided soon after the start. Spritely Star, Lektra Elsa and Cloncurry Girl collided soon after the start. Lektra Elsa and Cool De Beers collided at the 300m mark.

Parish Power was a late scratching at 9:01am due to weight variation (GAR 39). A 10 day stand down period was imposed. Trainer Mr E. Evans was fined the sum of $100.

Subscapularis and Amlin Miss were slow to begin.

Amlin Miss crossed out soon after the start colliding with Mahjong Magic. Uncatchable and Go Zippy Go collided at the 100m mark checking Uncatchable. Uncatchable, Iona Misty and Subscapularis collided at the 100m mark checking Iona Misty.

The outside temperature prior to this event was 34.5 degrees, the inside kennel temperature immediately prior to this event when the greyhounds were retrieved was 20.4 degrees.

Oliver Cruise was slow to begin.

Good Humour crossed to the outside soon after the start checking Bill Heeny. Oliver Cruise crossed to the outside approaching the 150m mark.  Di Canio and Princess America collided at the 50m mark.

Meeting Comments:

During kennelling Stewards conducted a carpark check on all greyhound transportation vehicles at today’s meeting. Stewards were satisfied that all Trainers had adhered to the hot weather transport policy.
