A pre-race sample was taken from Mepunga Reign.
Why Not Kez was quick to begin. Golden Sunrise was slow to begin. Mepunga Reign and Pyrenees Inferno collided soon after the start, checking Pyrenees Inferno. Mepunga Reign, Why Not Kez and Here Comes Tom collided approaching the first turn, checking Why Not Kez and Here Comes Tom. On Time Johnny clipped the heels of Why Not Kez on the first turn. Golden Sunrise galloped on the heels of On Time Johnny approaching the home turn, checking Golden Sunrise, Pyrenees Inferno and Avatar Blaze; and severely checking On Time Johnny which fell. Golden Sunrise and Avatar Blaze collided in the home straight.
On Time Johnny was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained a left foreleg radius/ulna fracture and was humanely euthanased.
