Mema Wibble and Why Not Pockets were slow to begin.
Mepunga Pride checked off Ample Warning soon after the start. Aston Sultan and Mossy Girl collided approaching the first turn checking Mossy Girl. Ample Warning checked off the heels of Ballistic Yaala on the first turn and collided with Why Not Pockets, resulting in Why Not Pockets checking and causing Ample Warning to fall. Our Man Zed checked off Ballistic Yaala approaching the home turn and collided with Aston Sultan. Mepunga Pride checked off Mema Wibble in the home straight.
Ample Warning underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have an abrasion to the left hind leg, a spike wound to the left front leg and mild soreness to both hind legs. A 5 day stand down period was imposed.
