Elfstar and Broadway Polka were slow to begin.

Elfstar and Weeona Raph collided soon after the start. Mindy's Girl crossed to the outside soon after the start and collided with Ryder Sir, Precious Metal and Tibby Shore in turn severely checking Broadway Polka. Mindy's Girl and Tibby Shore collided approaching the 250m mark. Hurricane Rose and Ryder Sir collided at the 150m mark checking both greyhounds.
