A pre race sample was taken from Galina Reznikov.
Snags McKenzie was quick to begin. Noonbarra Storm was slow to begin.
Galina Reznikov, Quick Session and Winlock Intent collided approaching the first turn. Galina Reznikov and Winlock Intent collided approaching the home turn. Giant Jarvis checked off Quick Session approaching the home turn. Thumbs and Noonbarra Storm collided approaching the home turn and again on the home turn, checking both greyhounds. Galina Reznikov turned its head outwards in the home straight and collided with Winlock Intent.
Galina Reznikov was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained left hindleg spike wound. No stand down period was imposed.
Stewards spoke to Mr. S Cachia, the handler of the greyhound Galina Reznikov, regarding the greyhound's racing manners in the home straight. Acting under GAR 69(A)(1) stewards charged Galina Reznikov with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment. Mr S. Cachia pleaded not guilty to the charge, Galina Reznikov was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Geelong and it was directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(A)(2)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.
