Steward's Report
The Club Veterinary Surgeon examined Matesy's Girl and no illness was detected. The greyhound was a late scratching at 2.03pm due to weight variation (GAR 39). A 10 day stand down period was imposed. Trainer Mr J. Hetherton was fined the sum of $100.
Que Allen was slow to begin. Gnal Gnal Girl was quick to begin.
Super Spolly checked off Turbo Flutter soon after the start. Dyna Alexia crossed to the outside on the first turn, colliding with Omen Allen and Turbo Flutter, severely checking both greyhounds; Turbo Flutter lost ground as a result. Gnal Gnal Girl eased approaching the home straight. Super Spolly and Gnal Gnal Girl collided on the home turn. Super Spolly and Que Allen collided entering the home straight.
Turbo Flutter was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injury to the right calf. A 5 day stand down period was imposed.
Gnal Gnal Girl was vetted following the event and re-vetted following race 4. It was reported that there was no apparent injury found. Stewards spoke to Ms K. Houlahan,the trainer of the greyhound Gnal Gnal Girl regarding the greyhound's racing manners approaching the home turn. Acting under GAR 69(A)(1), Stewards charged Gnal Gnal Girl with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment. Ms K Houlahan pleaded guilty to the charge, Gnal Gnal Girl was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Cranbourne and it was directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(A)(2)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.
