A pre-race sample was taken from Akut.
All The Same, Glacier Boy, Dawn Storm and What Feeling were slow to begin.
Shot Of Spice crossed to the outside soon after the start. Monica's Joy checked off Akut at the 250m mark. All The Same checked off Alabama Lane approaching the 200m mark and crossed to the outside, checking Dawn Storm and What Feeling. Glacier Boy faltered at the 150m mark and lost considerable ground, checking All The Same. Dawn Storm marred Glacier Boy approaching the 100m mark.
Glacier Boy was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained injuries to the left gastrocnemius (calf) and gluteals (hip) muscles. A 14-day stand down period was imposed.
Dawn Storm was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained no apparent injury. No veterinary stand down period was imposed.
Stewards spoke to Mr Gary Harding, the trainer of the greyhound Dawn Storm, regarding the greyhound’s racing manners approaching the 100m mark. Acting under GAR 69(1) stewards charged Dawn Storm with marring. Mr Harding pleaded guilty to the charge, Dawn Storm was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Healesville and it was directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(2)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.
