Steward's Report
Stewards spoke to Mrs Cheryl Paez, the trainer of Soda Ezy regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races. Soda Ezy last raced on 17/06/2018. Ms Paez stated that the greyhound had been spelled. Mrs Paez also declared a new weight of 30.7kg for the greyhound in accordance with GAR 39(2). Soda Ezy last raced at 29.0kg.
Stinging Red and Soda Ezy collided soon after the start. Soda Ezy crossed to the outside at the 250m mark. Run Maggie Run crossed to the outside at the 250m mark and collided with Superior Uno. Stinging Red and Krystal Parade collided approaching the 200m mark, checking Krystal Parade. Stinging Red eased and failed to pursue the lure with due commitment at the 150m mark, checking Superior Uno and Run Maggie Run. Run Maggie Run eased and failed to pursue the lure with due commitment at the 100m mark, checking Stinging Red, Dreamliner, Miss Cheekiness and Krystal Parade. Stinging Red and Run Maggie Run collided approaching the winning post, checking Stinging Red. Krystal Parade checked off Dreamliner approaching the winning post.
Stewards spoke to Mr Neil Mason, the trainer of the greyhound Stinging Red, regarding the greyhound’s racing manners at the 150m mark. Stinging Red was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained injuries to the left fibula, a 14-day stand down period was imposed. Acting under GAR 69(B)(1), the stewards charged Stinging Red with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Mr Mason pleaded guilty to the charge, Stinging Red was found guilty and stewards directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks) pursuant to GAR 69(B)(1)(a), before any future nomination will be accepted.
Run Maggie Run was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained a carpal sprain of the right wrist. A three-day veterinary stand down period was imposed.
Stewards spoke to Mr Keith Kelly, the trainer of the greyhound Run Maggie Run, regarding the greyhound’s racing manners at the 100m mark. Acting under GAR 69(A)(1) stewards charged Run Maggie Run with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment. Mr Kelly pleaded not guilty to the charge, Run Maggie Run was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Healesville and it was directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(A)(2)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.
