A pre-race sample was taken from Aztec Warrior upon arrival at the course, prior to kennelling.

Aztec Warrior and Janray Tigerlily were slow to begin.
Ruby's Rosa and Dr. Marshmellow collided at the 250m mark. Manila Mist veered out and eased at the 250m mark, checking Miller's Court and Bela Natali. Aztec Warrior and Manila Sprite collided at the 200m mark. Manila Mist veered out and eased approaching the 150m mark, checking Bela Natali. Manila Mist veered out and eased approaching the 100m mark, checking Dr. Marshmellow and Ruby's Rosa, in turn severely checking Miller's Court. Aztec Warrior and Ruby's Rosa collided approaching the winning post.
Stewards spoke to Mr David Basile, the trainer of the greyhound Manila Mist, regarding the greyhound’s racing manners at the 250m mark and approaching both the 150m and 100m mark. Manila Mist was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained injuries to the left latissimus dorsi and right tensor fascia (triangle) muscles, a seven-day stand down period was imposed. Acting under GAR 69(B)(1), the stewards charged Manila Mist with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Mr Basile pleaded guilty to the charge, Manila Mist was found guilty and stewards directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks) pursuant to GAR 69(B)(1)(a), before any future nomination will be accepted.
