Steward's Report

A pre-race sample was taken from Spolly James.

Dybala, Spolly James, Miss Inquisitive and Spolly's Flyer collided approaching the first turn checking all 4 greyhounds.  Friend In Me and War Creek collided approaching the home turn.  Airly With Grace and Spolly James collided approaching the home turn.  Friend In Me and Ohana Lad collided approaching the home turn.  Dybala clipped the heels of Ohana Lad entering the home straight causing Dybala to jump to the outside and stumble.

Ohana Lad was vetted following the event.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained neck muscle soreness, a 3 day stand down period was imposed.

Stewards spoke to the trainer of Ohana Lad Mr R. Floyd regarding the greyhounds racing manners entering the home straight. Mr Floyd stated that he believed the greyhound performed to the best of its ability throughout  the event running within a few lengths of the best time it had previously recorded at the track.   When questioned in relation to appearing to lose slight ground prior to suffering interference from behind,  Mr Floyd further stated he believed the interference his greyhound received from “Friend in Me“ on its outside, caused it to lose the ground as they approached the home turn.  Stewards considered Mr Floyd’s submissions and took no further action.

Samples were taken from the placegetters - Ohana Lad (1st) & War Creek (2nd).
