Steward's Report
Stewards spoke to Mr. W. McMahon the trainer of Gilberto regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races. Gilberto last ran in a satisfactory trial (GAR 77A) on 16/04/18. Mr. McMahon stated that the greyhound was returning to racing following a spell. Mr. McMahon declared a new weight of 34.8kg for the greyhound in accordance with GAR 39(2). Gilberto last raced at 33.1kg.
A pre-race sample was taken from Gilberto.
Gilberto and Wilburn were quick to begin. Dyna Winkler was checked off Mallee Spring approaching the first turn. Mallee Spring, Gilberto and Superior Scotch collided on the first turn severely checking Superior Scotch. Full Tilt and Gilberto collided approaching the home turn. Gilberto faltered approaching the home turn and lost ground. Gilberto and Superior Scotch collided on the home turn checking Gilberto. Gilberto tailed off in the home straight. Chevsta faltered approaching the winning post.
Chevsta was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained a fractured left hock, a 90 day stand down period was imposed.
Gilberto was vetted following the event and after being re-vetted following event 12, it was reported that the greyhound sustained an injured left back muscle and right chest muscle, a 14 day stand down period was imposed.
