Steward's Report
Fairytale Ending and Dream Boulevard were quick to begin.
Johnny McKenley, Budva and Chucka Khan collided soon after the start. Chucka Khan checked off the heels fo Budva soon after the start. Cosmic Fantasy checked off the heels of Johnny McKenley on the first turn. Budva checked off Cosmic Fantasy on the first turn. Three Toots and Johnny McKenley collided approaching the home turn, checking Cosmic Fantasy. Fairytale Ending visably eased and shifted out approaching the home turn, causing Three Toots to be inconvenienced. Johnny McKenley checked off the heels of Budva on the home turn.
Fairytale Ending was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained no apparent injury and trainer Ms Jess Fothergill declined to have the greyhound revetted. No veterinary stand down was imposed.
Stewards spoke to Mr Joshua Formosa, the representative of the greyhound Fairytale Ending, regarding the greyhound’s racing manners approaching the home turn. Acting under GAR 69(A)(1) stewards charged Fairytale Ending with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment. Mr Formosa pleaded guilty to the charge, Fairytale Ending was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Ballarat and it was directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(A)(2)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.
Stewards spoke to Mr Alfred Barbara in regard to his failure to retrieve the greyhound Cosmic Fantasy in a timely manner, pursuant to GAR46. Stewards took into account Mr Barber's forthright evidence, guilty plea and good record in relation to this rule, and applied a fine of $50.
Stewards spoke to Mr Thomas Boehmke in relation to presenting his greyhound for a satisfactory trial in a timely manner. Stewards accepted Mr Boehmke's explanation regarding the matter and reminded him of his obligation in relation to this matter for the future events.
MEETING COMMENTS
Satisfactory Trial Results - Nod Ya Head trialled over the 390m from box one, weight 32.2kg, the greyhound was placed second in a field of four. The time of the trial was 22.03, the greyhound was beaten by a margin of 6L. Nod Ya Head was cleared.
Satisfactory Weight Trial Results (not solo) - Carlanna Kervon trialled over the 390m from box four, weight 29.4kg, the greyhound was placed fourth in a field of four. The time of the trial was 22.03, the greyhound was beaten by a margin of 15.75L. Carlanna Kervon was cleared.
