Steward's Report

Stewards spoke to Mr Bevan Gray, the trainer of Sirius Matters, regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races. Sirius Matters last raced on 10 July 2017. Mr Gray stated that the greyhound was returning to racing from a change of kennel.

Inga Ross and Maximum Magic were slow to begin.

Dyna Hendry, Warming Galo's and No More Sisco collided approaching the first turn, checking Warming Galo's. Dyna Hendry and No More Sisco collided on the first turn, checking No More Sisco which collided with Sirius Matters, causing Sirius Matters and Allen Don to race wide. Allen Don and Sirius Matters collided on the home turn, checking Sirius Matters. Dyna Hendry raced wide on the home turn. Inga Ross turned its head and visibly eased in the home straight.

Stewards spoke to Mr Peter Inguanti, the trainer of the greyhound Inga Ross, regarding the greyhound’s racing manners in the home straight. Inga Ross was vetted  following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained injuries to the left long head triceps (monkey) and right pectoral (chest) injury, a seven day stand down period was imposed. Acting under GAR 69(B)(1), the stewards charged Inga Ross with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Mr Inguanti pleaded guilty to the charge, Inga Ross was found guilty and stewards directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks) pursuant to GAR 69(B)(1)(a), before any future nomination will be accepted.

A sample was taken from Fairly Legal, the winner of the event.
