Mr William Robertson, trainer of Middle Chic, declared a new weight of 27.9 kgs for the greyhound in accordance with GAR 39(2). Middle Chic last raced at 26.6 kgs.
A pre-race sample was taken from Jacobite Joseph.
All Inn Taylor and Pyrenees Inferno were quick to begin. Beanie Allen was slow to begin. Middle Chic checked off All Inn Taylor approaching the first turn. All Inn Taylor, Jacobite Joseph and Crymelon Annie collided approaching the first turn. All Inn Taylor, Middle Chick, Destini Firefox, Jacobite Joseph and Eliza Dee collided approaching the home turn, checking Beanie Allen, severely checking Destini Firefox, Eliza Dee and Crymelon Annie; and Destini Firefox fell as a result.
Eliza Dee was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained right foreleg wrist and left hindleg back muscle and thigh injuries, a seven day stand down period was imposed.
Crymelon Annie was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained abrasions and laceration to the right foreleg, and a right foreleg wrist injury, a 10 day stand down period was imposed.
Destini Firefox was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained a right foreleg radius/ulna fracture, and was humanely euthanased.
