Steward's Report
Merlin Rose, Piccolo Fratello and Double The Power were slow to begin. Double Sensation and Piccolo Fratello collided soon after the start checking both greyhounds. Zippy Zuri and Tuiaki Dora collided approaching the first turn severely checking Merlin Rose. Zippy Zuri and Tuiaki Dora collided on the first turn checking Double Sensation and severely checking Zippy Zuri. Double The Power checked off Zippy Zuri on the first turn. Merlin Rose and Zippy Zuri collided several times approaching the home turn. Merlin Rose crossed to the outside and marred Zippy Zuri several times entering the home straight and in the home straight severely checking both greyhounds.
Merlin Rose was vetted following the event. It was reported that there was no apparent injury found.
Stewards spoke to Mrs. S. Chignell, the trainer of the greyhound Merlin Rose regarding the greyhound's racing manners entering the home straight and in the home straight. Acting under GAR 69(1) stewards charged Merlin Rose with marring. Mrs. Chignell pleaded guilty to the charge, Merlin Rose was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Sale and it was directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(2)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.
