Stewards spoke to Mr William McMahon, the trainer of Bernardo regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races.  Bernardo last raced at The Meadows on 30 December 2017.  Mr McMahon stated that the greyhound was returning to racing following an injury to both achilles.

Ebby Ripper was slow to begin.

Back On Lava and Beryllium collided soon after the start.  Cadalora checked off Dyna Chancer on the first turn checking Cadalora and Back On Lava.  Moment To Jive checked off Myrniong Corner on the first trun.  Moment To Jive and Neo Cleo collided entering the front straight.  Back On Lava brushed the running rail approaching the third turn.  Cadalora and Neo Cleo collided on the third turn.

Burnout and Raw Ability collided soon after the start.  Rapanui Reveller and Zipping Inglis collided soon after the start.  Catch Me Curly and Zipping Inglis collided soon after the start.  Raw Ability galloped on Catch Me Curly approaching the first turn checking Raw Ability, Rapanui Reveller, Zipping Inglis and Catch Me Curly.  Catch Me Curly galloped on Hone In approaching the first turn checking Catch Me Curly and Hone In.  Burnout, Catch Me Curly, Raw Ability and Zipping Inglis collided on the first turn checking Catch Me Curly, Rapanui Reveller and severely checking Burnout and Raw Ability who both fell and collided with the outside fence, severely checking Zipping Inglis who stumbled over the fallen greyhounds.  Burnout pulled up approaching the winning post and failed to finish.

Burnout was vetted following the event.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained a left hock injury, a 28 day stand down period was imposed.

Raw Ability was vetted following the event.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained a right deltoid injury, right hip injury and right pencil/whip soreness, a 14 day stand down period was imposed.

Zipping Inglis was vetted following the event.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained a right deltoid injury, right hip injury and right foreleg and right hind spike wounds, a 10 day stand down period was imposed.

Brazilian Brae was a late scratching at 6.34pm due to not being presented. Trainer Mr Aaron Debattista advised Stewards that he had suffered a car breakdown on route to Sandown, which resulted in the late scratching.  Under GAR 31, Brazilian Brae was stood-down from racing for 28 days, pending the review of this penalty upon receipt of an application and supporting documentation to authenticate/verify the vehicle issue, to the Stewards satisfaction.

Seminole Wind was slow to begin.
