Yongning, Tantalise and Joshua Rocks collided soon after the start. Sunny's Kayo and Yongning collided approaching the first turn. Cool Coco and Hotspur Joey collided approaching the first turn. Shima Deal and Joshua Rocks raced wide on the first turn. Yongning checked off the heels of Sunny's Kayo entering the back straight. Yongning, Shooters Ali and Shima Deal collided on the third turn, checking Shima Deal.

Representative, Mr George Dailly was reprimanded pursuant to GAR 46(2) for arriving late to retrieve Shima Deal. Stewards took into account his offence record, length of time in the industry and level of involvement. Stewards also noted that the stir up, parade and start time was not delayed.
