Mr C Capuano, the trainer of Kalani Hagen, declared a new weight of 32.5kg for the greyhound in accordance with GAR 39(2). Kalani Hagen raced at 31.3kg.
Silent Sandy, Elsie Jean and Clear The Bar were quick to begin. Fawn Regrets, Hard Man Chapta and Blond Annie were slow to begin.
Kalani Hagen and Clear The Bar collided soon after the start. Blond Annie faltered soon after the start and tailed off as a result. Almani Tee Rex and Silent Sandy collided approaching the first turn, checking Almani Tee Rex. Fawn Regrets and Elsie Jean collided on the first turn. Clear The Bar checked off Hard Man Chapta on the first turn. Almani Tee Rex and Hard Man Chapta raced wide on the home turn.
Blond Annie was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injury to the left long head triceps (monkey) muscle. A ten-day stand down period was imposed.
