Beast was slow to begin.
Buddie's Al, No Quarter Given and Manila Mist collided approaching the first checking No Quarter Given. Beast, Manila Mist and Windy Lane collided on the first turn checking Manila Mist and Windy Lane. Smoke Signals and Buddie's Al collided approaching the home turn checking Smoke Signals. No Quarter Given stumbled and fell on the home turn and tailed off as a result. Refueled, Manila Mist and Windy Lane collided in the home straight checking Manila Mist and Windy Lane. Windy Lane marred Buddie's Al in the home straight checking Buddie's Al.
No Quarter Given was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained a lower back injury. A stand down period of 14 days was imposed.
Windy Lane was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained injuries to the left wrist and left chest muscle. A stand down period of 10 days was imposed.
Stewards spoke to Ms. F. Wilkinson, the trainer of the greyhound Windy Lane regarding the greyhounds racing manners in home straight. Acting under GAR 69(1) stewards charged Windy Lane with marring. Ms. Wilkinson pleaded guilty to the charge, Windy Lane was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Bendigo and it was directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(2)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.
Stewards inspected the track following this event after No Quarter Given fell on the home turn and was passed safe for racing.
