Steward's Report
Mr. J. Galea trainer of Seven Two declared a new weight of 33.1kg for the greyhound in accordance with GAR 39(2). Seven Two last raced at 31.3kg.
The start of this event was delayed by approximately 1.5 minutes to hold for a Sapphire Coast thoroughbred race.
Seven Two and King Of Ring collided soon after the start. Latifi Sam, Fiery Universe and Jack's Pick collided approaching the first turn. Seven Two, King Of Ring and Latifi Sam collided on the first turn. Fiery Universe and Jack's Pick collided entering the back straight checking Fiery Universe. Jack's Pick and China Catch 'Em collided approaching the second turn. Latifi Sam eased approaching the second turn and lost ground. Flying Danger and Stylish Chief collided on the second turn. Jack's Pick clipped the heels of China Catch 'Em approaching the home turn checking both greyhounds. Stylish Chief clipped the heels of King Of Ring entering the home straight checking Stylish Chief.
Stewards spoke to Mr. N. Jones, the representative of the greyhound Latifi Sam regarding the greyhounds racing manners approaching the second turn. Latifi Sam was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained injuries to the left triangle and both groin muscles, a 10 day stand down period was imposed. Acting under GAR 69(B)(1), the stewards charged Latifi Sam with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Mr. Jones pleaded guilty to the charge, Latifi Sam was found guilty and stewards directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks) pursuant to GAR 69(B)(1)(a), before any future nomination will be accepted.
