Steward's Report
Chloe Crumpet was a late scratching at 10.25am by Order of Stewards. No penalties were imposed.
Stewards spoke to Mr Raymond Matthews, the trainer of Janray Flash, regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races. Janray Flash last raced on 8 September 2017. Mr Matthews stated that the greyhound had been seasonal.
Mr Gerry Orr, trainer of It's Fresh, declared a new weight of 32.5kg for the greyhound in accordance with GAR 39(2). It's Fresh last raced at 31.0kg.
A pre-race sample was taken from It's Fresh.
Rayjan Eddy, Neb's Shark and It's Fresh collided soon after the start. Rayjan Eddy checked off It's Fresh at the 250m mark. It's Fresh checked off Black In Town at the 250m mark. Janray Flash and Black In Town collided at the 200m mark. Black In Town checked off Don's Gas at the 150m mark. Rayjan Eddy and It's Fresh collided approaching the winning post.
Rayjan Eddy eased at the 100m mark and was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained no apparent injury. No veterinary stand down period was imposed.
Stewards spoke to Mr Donald McDonald, the trainer of the greyhound Rayjan Eddy, regarding the greyhounds racing manners at the 100m mark. Acting under GAR 69(A)(1) stewards charged Rayjan Eddy with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment. Mr McDonald pleaded guilty to the charge, Rayjan Eddy was found guilty and suspended the greyhound for three months (all tracks) and it was directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(A)(2)(b), before any future nomination will be accepted.
