Steward's Report
A pre race sample was taken from Little Women.
Crump's Legend, Thunder Of Night, Little Women and Lainey's Fortune collided soon after the start. Chevsta, Crump's Legend and Lainey's Fortune collided on the first turn, checking Thunder Of Night, Crump's Legend, Night Hawk and Little Women, and severely checking Lainey's Fortune. Crump's Legend checked off Thunder Of Night on the home turn.
Lainey's Fortune was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injury to the left hind leg, a 14 day stand down period was imposed.
Following this event, Stewards opened an inquiry into the conduct of trainers Mr. A. Kenyon and Ms. M. Malia-Magri prior to the running of Race 12. Ms. Malia-Magri pleaded guilty to a charge under GAR. 86(q) in that prior to the running of Race 12, she engaged in conduct detrimental to the image of greyhound racing in that she used foul language towards Mr. Kenyon in the vicinty of the kennel block. Ms. Malia-Magri was fined $100. Mr. Kenyon pleaded not guilty to a charge under GAR 86(q) in that prior to the running of Race 12, he engaged in conduct detrimental to the image of greyhound racing in that he engaged Ms. Malia-Magri in a heated discussion in an unprofessional manner while in the vicinity of the kennel block. After considering further evidence put forward by Mr. Kenyon in his defense, Stewards were of the opinion that there was insufficient evidence and withdrew the charge. Mr. Kenyon was reminded of his responsibility to act in a professional manner at all times while involved in greyhound racing.
